چکیده :
The rapid increase in fault currents and the susceptibility of power converters in doubly-fed induction generators (DFIGs) to short-circuit faults pose significant challenges in terms of protection. Short-circuit faults can disrupt the normal operation of DFIGs, leading to electrical fires, equipment failures, and other critical issues. Therefore, it is imperative to employ an effective method to mitigate or prevent such occurrences. This study introduces a hybrid circuit breaker (HCB) designed to provide rapid and secure protection for the DFIG system and the grid. The HCB operates in two distinct modes: firstly, as a fault current limiter (FCL) and secondly, as a circuit breaker. The functionality of this proposed HCB is subjected to rigorous mathematical analysis, and simulation results validate the findings from the analytical studies, confirming the high performance of the HCB in safeguarding the DFIG system and grid.
