چکیده :
With a fixed DC link voltage, the high-frequency harmonic contents of the output voltage and current of an inverter increase considerably compared to the fundamental component. On the other hand, in the electric motor drives, the output voltage magnitude varies withing a wide range based on the speed command that could be anywhere from the zero speed to the rated speed. Therefore, when the motor is operating in the speed well below its rated speed, the fundamental component of the drive output voltage is low resulting in high total harmonic distortion (THD). To alleviate the problem, this study proposes an inverter with adjustable DC-link voltage for asynchronous motor drives. The inverter selects between two available values of the DC-link voltage so that in the higher speeds, the higher DC-link voltage is used and in the lower speed, the lower DC-link voltage (half the full DC voltage) is employed. Therefore, in the lower speed range, roughly up to the half of the rated speed, the THD of the output voltage and current is reduced considerably. The simulation results provided by the MATLAB/SIMULINK environment verify the effectiveness of the proposed method in reducing the harmonic contents in asynchronous motor drives.
